From Table Mesa Drive take up past Broadway. Turn right on Stanford Drive (in front of King Soopers) Stay on Stanford, veer to right past apartments. Stay on Stanford and go all the way to the top, it will turn into Kohler Drive. Turn right when road ends and park at Trailhead on Deer Valley Road.
I recommend you hike in the morning because generally the skies will be clearer because it usually gets cloudy in the afternoon.
Hike to the left and get on the maintenance road and then keep going west. You’ll be on Skunk Canyon Trail and you hike straight towards the mountains. Amazing views of all the Flatirons. Skunk Canyon Trail goes all the way to Mesa Trail on top and you’ll be very close to the Flatirons.
It’s a beautiful hike and also great exercise since you’re going straight up. Your heart will start pounding for sure and if it’s hot you will sweat. Going up and down takes about 60-75 minutes.
Then afterwards you can have a nice lunch in South Boulder.
